Have students identify the major colors found in the flags of countries that have citizens that speak the target language. submitted by: Melissa MB Wilkins

Call out a color, and have students point to something in the room that is that color (but they are not allowed to point to their own clothing items. This is aimed at getting them to move and to interact with their environment Idea source: Typical activity for kindergarten teachers to use

Divide the class into two teams. Have a pile of clothing from Goodwill, Salvation Army, etc. The clothing can be any size (even baby clothes), as no one will be putting them on. You will also need a set of color cards for each team. The teacher calls out a clothing item name and a color. In order to get a point for their team, students must hold up both the correct item of clothing and the correct color to get the point for their team. The bonus is that the students get used to hearing the color AFTER the object name. Of course, this can be done with any object set, not just clothing. For example, it could be done with classroom or household objects (you could have doll furniture in the piles or bags).
