Teaching the Names of the Countries With this activity, students will learn the names of the continents in the second language as well as approximate locations/where to find it on a typical (for us) map of theworld. I find it best to pull down the map of the world. Point and name each continent with students practicing the words. Then, have them to stand up and face the map. 	Teaching the Names of the Oceans with the Oceans Dance Preliminary Activity: Look in a social studies book. Using two fingers together, trace the shape/pattern of the oceans. Dance: Say the names of the oceans with the actions (Give it some musical rhythm.): Atlantic -- hands start high and move down in a "S" curve Pacific -- split in 2 on our maps -- so both hands out doing window washing circles Arctic -- it's cold up there -- so both hands are up high, fingers forming the American Sign Language signs for W and S (This is the ASL sign for Winter), shivering Indian -- Down and to the right on the map -- so right hand down low, just above the hip, making a window washing circle.
